"The Wedding Fish" (complete image)
Title: The Wedding Fish - Medium: watercolour, graphite, ink, and 23k gold leaf on 300 lb (640 gr) paper - Size: 22 x 30 in (56 x 76 cm) - Note: On the wall of a restaurant in Atikokan was a large, mounted northern pike. While there with my pencil and paper, I did a detailed "field study" of this fish. I referred to this drawing later when creating this work. The carnations in the painting were ones I received as a gift. This image symbolizes the power of fate. Into each life glides destiny, formidable in its strength. We are impotent to rebuff the changes thrust upon us by this ruthless wisdom.
